New, Returning, and Invited Applications

New Applicants: If you are interested in applying for a residency at the Bellagio Center, please begin completing your application in the next few pages.

Returning Applicants: If you have already started working on application but did not yet submit it and would like to continue working on it, please click here.

Invited Applicants: If you were invited to the Bellagio Center and need to formally register for your visit (e.g. for travel information, visa documents, etc), please click here (logon required).

Guidelines for Submitting an Application

The Bellagio competition for scholars and creative artists is closed. We are not currently accepting applications for scholars and creative artists residencies.

Conference and Practitioner applications are accepted on a continuous basis throughout the year.

Your application must be in English.
If your work samples are not in English, please follow the instructions provided on the form.

Requirements and selection criteria are different for each type of residency.
Therefore, we strongly recommend you read our website before beginning your application.

We do not accept incomplete applications.
All materials must be submitted together. We will not be able to follow-up with missing materials.

All application materials must be submitted online except for certain Arts & Literary Arts Residency applications.
We accept PDF (preferred) and Word documents. If you have difficulting accessing our online application, you may contact us to discuss alternate ways of submitting materials, if necessary. Visual artists, multi-media artists, composers, and filmmakers must submit their work samples via post or one of the online alternatives detailed in the applications. Online submission of work samples is preferred.

The online form allows you to save and edit information.
You do not need to finish your online application in one session. You will be able to save the form and return to it at a later date to revise, edit and add information. Once you begin your application, an access code will be sent to your email address. Please save this code and email so you may return to your application at a later time. You may access your application and edit as many times as you wish using the code and your email address.

You must complete the online application one page at a time.
Each page must be completed before you can move to the following page. You must complete all seven pages prior to submitting your application.

Your Bellagio application will not be complete until you hit the submit button.
Once submitted, you will receive an email confirming that we have received your application.

We will send a reminder to your recommenders after you submit your application.
A copy of this email will be sent to you. As a best practice, we strongly encourage you to contact your recommenders before you begin your online application to request a reference. Once you submit your application, your recommenders will then have only two weeks to respond, so please give them as much advance notice as possible. So they may better inform the committee on your proposal, it would be wise to send your recommenders a copy of your proposal.

Once you submit your application, no further changes will be allowed.
